Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of mechanical building services on a range of commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, and process systems, with a proven ability to manage contracts from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical packages on multiple construction projects, from tender through to final commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinate procurement, subcontractor management, and onsite installation activities to meet program and quality targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to resolve design or installation challenges.
  • Monitor financial performance, manage cost control, and provide regular reporting on project progress and commercial status.
  • Lead project meetings, manage variations and change control processes, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Supervise and support site teams, ensuring strong communication and effective team performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • 5-10 years' experience in mechanical contracts or project management roles within the construction or building services sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, LPHW, CHW, domestic services, and BMS systems.
  • Strong project delivery background with a focus on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Asta).

Qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
  • SMSTS or equivalent health & safety certification.
  • CSCS or relevant trade card required.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification desirable.
