Job Description
Maths Academic CoachDo you want a full academic year in a secondary school where you run focused maths support and watch pupils improve across KS3 and KS4? Maths Academic Coach September 2026 to July 2027 £90 - £100 per day Secondary school based in Wolverhampton Targeted academic support across KS3 & KS4 MathsThe Role:You will support the maths department through structured 1:1 and small group sessions, plus in-class support when needed. Your work will focus on the gaps that block progress most often: number fluency, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, algebra foundations, geometry, and problem solving. The aim is simple. Fewer repeated errors, stronger confidence, and better outcomes over time.Your sessions will run with a consistent routine so pupils know what to do and you can measure progress: recap the skill, model it, practise together, move to an independent attempt, then check quickly and tighten the next step. At KS3, you will secure foundations so pupils access lessons with less support. At KS4, you will build exam habits: read the question, identify the topic, choose a method, show working clearly, then check for accuracy. Maths at KS3 and KS4 is built around fluency, reasoning, and problem solving, so your support will reflect those priorities. You will record short outcomes after each session and feed back to the teacher, so targets stay sharp and groups change when pupils secure the skill. The Candidate:You bring calm authority and clear explanations. You keep pupils focused, you break concepts into small steps, and you stick to routines so pupils improve without stress.

- Confident supporting KS3 and KS4 maths, including number, algebra, and reasoning
- Comfortable delivering 1:1 and small group sessions with pace and clear outcomes
- Experience with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or volunteering is desirable
- Professional approach to safeguarding, confidentiality, and behaviour expectations
- Enhanced DBS required, plus right to work checks, references, and standard school vetting
