Materials Testing Technician (Aggregates and Asphalt)

Overview

Materials Testing Technician (Aggregates and Asphalt) based at Tarmac Clitheroe Asphalt Plant, Lancashire. This regional role covers multiple quarries and asphalt plants throughout the NorthWest, including Lancashire, Blackpool and Cumbria.

Responsibilities

• Sample and test aggregates and asphalt materials on a daily basis.
• Accurately record, analyse and report test results.
• Monitor product quality for internal and external customers.
• Operate specialist laboratory equipment such as ovens, furnaces, sieves, weighing apparatus and other scientific testing tools.
• Travel to other local Tarmac sites for sampling and testing activities as required.
• Identify and escalate any quality concerns or potential issues.
• Work safely at all times in accordance with Health and Safety procedures and standards.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience in quality control, construction materials, aggregates or asphalt sector, or the ability to train quickly with positive behaviours.
• Proactive, hardworking and self motivated approach.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Good communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Numerical confidence and ability to interpret data and results.
• Good IT skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Genuine commitment to Health and Safety.
