Manufacturing Equipment Engineering Lead

Job Description:

You will join the team to develop, improve and support the operations manufacturing processes and equipment enabling world class production of Leonardo products

• Ensuring the developmentmanufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; understanding feedback from Leonardo operators, conferring with equipment vendors or external suppliers

• Lead and deliver OEE - Overall Operational Equipment Effectiveness, ensure that a OEE approach is in place and that the equipment team are effectively participating in the uptime / utilization data analysis

• Advising and participating on improving policies and processes within the operations framework

• Responsiblefor ensuring the team deliver technically sound solutionsmeetingall stakeholder requirements

• Assureproduct and process quality by designing methods; validation/verification of process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes

• Lead failure investigations using knownproblem-solvingtechniques (e.g.8D)

• Assuremaintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment, ensure that internal Leonardo calibration and external calibration plans are in place, effective and that TPM is to schedule

• Ensure that the equipment team have effective documentation set in place including working with Manufacturing on the creation & maintenance of General Risk Assessments and that the maintenance schedule and process checklist are in place and effective (includes Maintain manufacturing equipment critical spares and proactive review /oversight of obsolescence)

• Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements by overseeing and reviewing all contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring safe working practices are maintained throughout contractor lead activities.

• Facility Design (Equipment): Ensure layouts from high level to detailed cell designs are adequate including storage for jigs & fixtures; that the design, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing EPA / ESD arrangements are planned and effective; and the implementation of equipment 5S is planned and effective

• Complete improvement and development projects by coaching and mentoring the manufacturing equipment engineer community

• Indepth understanding of manufacturing processes and principles

• Peoplemanagement & leadership skills; including effectiveperformance, changemanagementskills and development of self and others

• Experience in managing a multi disciplined manufacturingequipment engineering team having abilityto take ownership of a work package; planning and scheduling own workload and the work of others

• Experienceof peer reviewing the work of others inside aproduct teamand within a sub Engineering Unit and ensuring the resulting actions are implemented

• HND (or higher) in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in role.

• Demonstrated achievement and delivery of own work packages within a single engineering discipline

• Demonstrated experience in having own work peer reviewed and implementing resulting actions

• Demonstrated knowledge of more than one phase of the Product Life Cycle and the associated discipline processes
