Role Summary

This role leads a dedicated section within the Manufacturing Engineering Team, responsible for driving process improvements, resolving technical issues, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring safety and quality standards.

Success requires strong communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills. The Team Leader supports our operations strategy, fosters a safe working environment, enhances product quality, ensures on-time delivery, and achieves cost reduction targets.

The role is based at our Cheltenham site and involves collaboration with production and supporting functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure resources are applied efficiently to meet delivery requirements while maintaining quality and safety standards.
2. Coach and mentor engineers in engineering best practices and problem-solving.
3. Own problem-solving processes, systematically identify root causes, and implement solutions within tight timescales.
4. Use data to identify improvement initiatives and drive actions to meet key metrics.
5. Collaborate with production, maintenance, safety, supply chain, and product development teams on problem-solving and improvement activities.
6. Support the introduction of new products, processes, automation, and equipment, ensuring safety and quality.
7. Ensure process controls and documentation are in place for manufacturing processes in line with ISO9001.
8. Identify hazards through risk assessments and implement measures to eliminate risks.
9. Continuously improve assembly and testing processes, including automation.
10. Improve and sustain productivity in manufacturing cells.
11. Identify conditions contributing to performance gaps and determine root causes, leading implementation of countermeasures.
12. Apply lean manufacturing, P-FMEA, Six Sigma, and other engineering tools.
13. Ensure compliance with systems, procedures, and documentation.
14. Perform time studies, standard work, takt time analysis, and line balancing.
15. Analyze and propose capital expenditure requirements.
16. Ensure manufacturing cells comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Skills/Requirements

• Degree or equivalent in engineering or related experience with an engineering apprenticeship.
• Experience in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience in manufacturing environments.
• Experience with automated assembly equipment and OEE is beneficial.
• Formal qualifications in Six Sigma, project management, or lean tools are advantageous.
