Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Reporting To: Engineer Sr., Manufacturing

Work Schedule: Onsite - Carrigaline, IE

Location: Moog Ireland Ltd, Ringaskiddy Co. Cork

Summary of Function

Identify and drive improvements in the manufacture of high reliability electronic circuit cards and the mechanical system assembly of Moog motion controllers. Provide and support Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve product quality, capability and cost reductions. Lead new equipment specification, justification and installation within schedule and budget. Contribute DFM input, working closely with in house and corporate design groups. Oversee new product introduction, creating product costings, assembly processes and SOPs.

Responsibilities
  • Support the production of electronic circuit card assemblies (SMT, PTH, selective solder, aqueous cleaning, conformal coating) ensuring equipment and processes operate to specification.
  • Support the mechanical assembly of Moog motion controllers with automated torque drivers and laser marking, ensuring equipment and processes operate to specification.
  • Work closely with production and other departments to meet customer deliveries.
  • Design or update manufacturing assembly processes and procedures to meet product quality, throughput, cost and EHS requirements.
  • Identify and improve assembly processes using Lean tools.
  • Provide training on processes and equipment as required.
  • Design and implement appropriate safe product handling solutions.
  • Understand, use and improve in house BMDL and assembly procedures.
  • Assist other Moog sites with product costings and assembly solutions as needed.
  • Review, approve and implement changes to engineering change orders.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Level 8 degree qualification.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Practical, constructive, analytical problem solving approach.
  • Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team to expedite project tasks.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with customers and teams at all levels on site.
  • High degree of flexibility to adjust work patterns in response to demand spikes.

This is a permanent position with a six month probationary period, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.
