Manufacturing Engineer
Posted 19 hours 29 minutes ago by National Composites Centre
NCC's future is as bright as ever. We have some exciting large-scale programmes of work coming up, focusing on delivering innovative composite technologies across multiple sectors. These are some of the most significant and challenging opportunities we've ever faced, so we're looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer (Research Engineer/Advanced Research Engineer) to help make it happen.
If you have knowledge, skills, or experience in the following areas, we'd love to hear from you:
Manufacturing: Do you have experience leading manufacturing processes? Do you have a proven background in manufacturing, production, or quality? We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the manufacturing engineering toolkit, who enjoys problem-solving on the shop floor, and who will lead by example in implementing best practices across manufacturing.
What you'll be doing
- Creating and evaluating quality control processes and implementing continuous improvement & manufacturing governance.
- Creating and managing process documentation such as PFMEAs and SOIs.
- Leading research projects from a manufacturing perspective.
- Managing New Product Introduction processes and principles.
- Analyzing and reporting on manufacturing processes, including cycle time, reliability, repeatability, accuracy, and downtime.
- Utilizing Lean Six Sigma qualifications and/or experience, along with root cause analysis activities, will be a bonus.
- Applying operational H&S knowledge.
- Delivering equipment specifications, procurement, acceptance trials, and site requirements.
- Representing NCC in customer-facing roles on and off-site.
What we're looking for
- Process Engineering: You understand manufacturing process parameters, can assess risks, scrutinize, and improve processes with the bigger picture in mind. You deliver at cost, on time, and meet quality expectations. You are customer-focused and can manage products or projects from creation to delivery, aligning with customer needs.
- Innovation: You can apply innovative approaches to evaluate and develop technical solutions for engineering challenges, working comfortably with ambiguity across sectors and composite manufacturing processes. You can implement new processes, procedures, and methods to manufacture components within time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Data: We seek Data-Driven Manufacturing Engineers experienced in test plans and process trend analysis. As NCC advances in digital engineering, understanding how manufacturing data can be optimized and exploited is beneficial.
- Composite manufacture: While knowledge of composites isn't essential, understanding composite manufacturing processes and industry challenges is a bonus.
What do we offer in return?
Hybrid and flexible working, annual salary reviews, company-paid private medical insurance, up to 12.5% employer pension contribution, great colleagues, honorary staff status at the University of Bristol, and a focus on wellbeing, EDI, and learning and development. This is a chance to build your career in a thriving R&D facility with a bright future.
We see your future in ours. Apply now.
Closing date for applications: 1st September 2025
