Managing Director - Scotland - Engineering

Bright Purple is working exclusively with an established, highly regarded business to appoint a Managing Director for its stand alone specialist engineering division. This is a genuine leadership opportunity, not a caretaker role. The business has strong foundations: an established client base, skilled operational teams, and a reputation built on many years in the industry. With a commitment from investors to expand the business across the UK, the need for a commercially driven MD to take ownership, accelerate revenue growth, and build on what's already there is clear.

What you'll be responsible for

• Full P&L ownership; accountable for revenue targets, margin, and profitable growth across the division
• Commercial leadership; developing and executing a growth strategy that opens new markets, wins new contracts, and deepens existing client relationships
• Operational leadership; setting standards, driving efficiency, and ensuring the team consistently delivers high quality work on time
• Strategic reporting; working directly with the board, providing clear KPIs, financial reporting, and a credible plan for the division's future
• External representation; acting as the face of the business with clients, contractors, partners, and key industry stakeholders
• People and culture; building a high performance environment where accountability, quality, and ambition are the norm

What we're looking for

• Proven MD or senior GM experience in engineering, or closely adjacent sectors, you understand how these businesses work
• A strong commercial operator; you have a clear track record of growing revenue, owning the P&L, and delivering against financial targets
• Operationally credible; comfortable on the shop floor and in the boardroom; your teams respect you because you know the business
• Entrepreneurial mindset; you're motivated to build something, not just maintain it, you see opportunity where others see complexity
• Strong communicator; you can influence at board level, negotiate with major clients, and engage your teams with equal confidence
