Mammography and Breast Screening Receptionist

A flexible approach to work is an essential part of the post, in line with the Medical Imaging Service Policy of promoting the extended working day / week to benefit our patients.

The Mammography Department is fully committed to effective appraisal and any training and development will be actively encouraged and supported.

Working with a team of highly committed staff, you will provide a first class and effective reception and booking service within the Mammography Department.

Main duties of the job

Provide administrative/reception service support to facilitate the patient pathway.

Work flexibly across services to provide a booking service, process clinic changes, call centre cover, processing of referrals and undertake a range of general admin tasks.

Build and maintain close working relationships across the clinical administrative teams, using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to ensure functions of the role are carried out correctly and within given timescales.

Ensure accurate data recording using the Patient Administration System (PAS) and E referral and other systems; and via the use of Patient Tracking Lists (PTLs) book outpatient/inpatient events in accordance with clinical instruction and national/local waiting time target dates.

  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with multi disciplinary team/patients/relatives

  • Ability to deal sensitively and compassionately with patients, some of whom may have received bad news

  • Experience in an office environment

  • Experience of Trust PAS computer System

Qualifications & Training
  • GCSE English Language & Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent or NVQ Level 2 qualification
