Major Trauma and Critical Care Dietitian

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a Band 6 rotational dietetic post alternating between Major Trauma and Critical Care, with ongoing clinical cover provided across both areas throughout the rotation.
We are looking for a motivated and forward thinking dietitian to join the multidisciplinary teams within Critical Care and on the Polytrauma Ward at the University Hospital of Wales. This post offers an excellent chance to develop advanced clinical skills in a fast paced, specialist environment.
Applicants should have experience in acute dietetics. Experience in critical care, major trauma, neurosurgery or spinal injuries is desirable but not essential. Strong communication, teaching and teamwork skills are essential.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will demonstrate excellent relationship management skills and a practical, forward thinking approach to service development and evaluation and the ability to work in a team. You will work within a friendly and highly skilled department providing secondary and tertiary care and have numerous opportunities for professional and personal development. The team is committed to providing a seven day service to the hospital. You will be actively involved in the research, audit and the clinical governance agenda of the department and Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person Specification Special Knowledge- Knowledge of multi cultural population
- Evidence of well developed communication skills
- Critical appraisal / analytical skills
- MDT / team working skills evident
- Motivational interviewing / behaviour change skills
- Significant post registration experience of working with a broad range of patients across a variety of clinical settings
- Student training experience
- Experience of working in specialist settings
- Evidence of current HPC registration
- Degree, or equivalent, or postgraduate qualification in dietetics
- Member of the British Dietetic Association or covered by professional indemnity insurance
- Post registration behaviour change training.
- Membership of relevant special interest groups
- MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge & advanced postgraduate training / experience in specialist clinical dietetics
