Major Projects Planner (Development Management)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Major Projects Planner (Development Management) with extensive experience in development management, including major and strategically significant proposals. You will report to the Major Applications Team Leader and will have lead responsibility for handling development management matters of strategic or significant importance to the borough.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the handling of development management matters of strategic or significant importance to the borough.
• Collaborate with developers and other interested parties to negotiate and secure positive outcomes on applications.
• Secure financial and broader community benefits through effective planning negotiation.
• Promote a culture of positive planning within the council.
• Maintain high standards of quality and professionalism in planning services.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification in Town Planning.
• Membership of, or eligibility for, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience in research, project management and problem solving in planning.
• Aware of current planning issues in inner urban areas and their implications for future Development Management.
• Experience with relevant tools for development management.
