Job Description

Start Date: as soon as possible

Salary: £36,569 per annum

We are seeking to recruit full-time decorator/builder to work with a team of 6 staff who are responsible for the general condition and upkeep of all the school's infrastructure, which includes school buildings on the main site, its grounds, and associated buildings on other school sites. The maintenance team (6 members in all) is responsible for the general condition and upkeep of all the school's infrastructure, which includes the King's College School buildings and grounds and the Wimbledon College Prep School site.

The working hours will be 40 hours per week, between 7.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch. Some Saturday morning work required to support Open Days and other important school events, paid as overtime

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • To react to day to day maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance manager and via the school's maintenance 'ticket' system
  • To undertake pre-planned maintenance and repair works
  • To prepare and plaster damage to walls and surfaces
  • To carry out painting and decorating as required
  • To repair paved areas and walkways
  • To carry out minor brickwork repairs
  • To lay tiles on walls and floors
  • To assist all other trades within the department
  • Maintenance of the interior of buildings including doors, windows, windowsills and frames, minor repair work, picture/shelf hanging
  • Maintenance of the exterior of buildings including drains and gutters
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy workshop
  • Carrying out plumbing repairs as required
  • Assisting external contractors with appropriate tasks
  • Assisting with fire emergencies by carrying out duties as set out in the school's policies
  • Carrying out appropriate emergency repairs out of hours and being on the 'on call' duty rota for the maintenance team
