Maintenance Operative - Bank

Overview

At Avery Healthcare, we support the teams that care for our residents. We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our award winning team as a Maintenance Operative - Bank at Sonning Gardens Care Home in Reading.

Main duties

Your focus as a Maintenance Operative will be to ensure the building and grounds are well maintained, undertaking routine maintenance tasks, checks on services, and applying basic fixes to equipment and systems while ensuring facilities are fully functional.

• Carrying out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery and building tasks within and outside the home.
• Supporting new residents to arrange their rooms as they wish.
• Ensuring routine re decoration is undertaken to maintain standards in the home.
• Advising on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, and ordering replacement goods in a timely and appropriate way.
• Providing out of hours emergency service and participating in the on call rota.

Qualifications & experience

• Minimum one year experience in a general maintenance or handy person role, or a professional qualification in a trade.
• Hold a full driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
