Maintenance Manager

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to join our Seawater Team and lead the maintenance strategy across our seawater farming operations in our west and south west regions.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and effective operation of a diverse range of assets critical to salmon farming production. The successful candidate will drive maintenance excellence across all seawater operations, ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency while supporting the continued growth of the business.

Working closely with operational colleagues, the Maintenance Manager will lead a team of specialist technicians and contractors, oversee maintenance budgets and capital projects, and develop strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our assets continue to operate safely and effectively.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the maintenance strategy for all seawater farming assets across the business, reduce equipment failures and increase operational efficiency.
• Be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective delivery of preventative, corrective and planned maintenance activities across all regions.
• Ensure all equipment inspection, testing, certification and maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company policies, industry standards and relevant legislation.
• Ensure the safe operation, reliability and availability of all seawater assets through close collaboration with farm management and operational teams.
• Manage and continuously improve preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair and performance of all seawater infrastructure and equipment, including, but not limited to:
  • Feed barges and feeding systems
  • Workboats and vessels
  • Cranes and lifting equipment
  • Generators and power systems
  • Engines and mechanical equipment
  • Net washing equipment
  • Vehicles and plant
  • Site infrastructure and associated assets
• Recruit, lead, develop and performance manage a team of specialist technicians.
• Carry out managerial assurance checks to ensure all maintenance activities are completed to the required standards and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and coordinate specialist maintenance contractors and service providers across both operational regions.
• Develop and maintain effective spare parts and inventory management systems to ensure critical components are available when required.
• Oversee procurement of parts, consumables, maintenance services and equipment.
• Manage maintenance budgets across both regions, ensuring effective cost control and value delivery.
• Lead the planning and delivery of CAPEX projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
• Ensure all vessels, lifting equipment and operational assets remain compliant with applicable regulatory, statutory and certification requirements.
• Engage with regulatory authorities, inspection bodies and industry stakeholders as required.
• Develop strong, face-to-face working relationships with operational teams, suppliers, contractors and external stakeholders to drive consistent engineering and maintenance ways of working across the business.
• Contribute to long-term asset investment planning and engineering strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring all maintenance activities are planned and executed safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Working collaboratively with site operations teams to maintain safe and compliant farming operations.
• Promoting a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
• Ensuring appropriate risk assessments, safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures are implemented and followed.
• Monitoring contractor compliance and ensuring all works are completed to a safe and high standard.
• Supporting investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives where required.

About You

You will be a highly motivated maintenance or engineering professional with a proven track record of leading teams and managing assets within a demanding operational environment.

You will combine strong technical expertise with excellent leadership and communication skills and have a passion for continuous improvement, safety and operational excellence.

• A minimum of a QQI Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate (or equivalent) in the respective trade (e.g., Fitting, Electrical, or Mechanical Automation)
• Proven experience managing preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment, asset reliability and maintenance best practice.
• Experience leading and developing maintenance teams.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and external service providers.
• Budget management experience with responsibility for maintenance expenditure.
• Strong organisational, planning and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between operational sites.
• Experience within aquaculture, marine, maritime, industrial, manufacturing or similarly asset-intensive industries.
• Experience managing vessels, power generation systems, feeding equipment and marine infrastructure.
• Knowledge of statutory inspection and certification requirements for vessels, lifting equipment and industrial plant.
• Experience delivering capital projects and procurement activities.
• Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems and asset management software.
