Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Location: Donegal
Salary: €65-70k DOE

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering and site services function within a busy Food Manufacturing environment.

Reporting into the senior management team, you will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of all site services, including engineering utilities, refrigeration systems and effluent treatment operations. You will lead a small engineering team, ensuring maximum plant reliability, minimising downtime and maintaining compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop and support a team of engineers and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of all plant, equipment, refrigeration and effluent treatment systems.
  • Develop, implement and manage planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Coordinate reactive maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers and external agencies as required.
  • Support site audits, inspections and accreditation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to cost control initiatives and engineering improvement projects.
Qualifications & Skills Required
  • Degree/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4-5 years' engineering supervisory or management experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of modern maintenance techniques and procedures.
  • Proven ability to implement and manage preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Experience managing reactive maintenance and breakdown situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals and technical documentation.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to transport.
  • Experience working with Pneumatics, Welding and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and effluent treatment plant operations.
  • Experience implementing 6S, Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with external accreditation and compliance bodies.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and flexible engineering professional who enjoys a hands-on management role. You will be capable of working on your own initiative, leading a team effectively and driving engineering performance across a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
