About The Role:

Location: ST10 4DB

Shift Pattern:5 in 7, including some weekend working

The Resort Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Alton Towers remains safe, compliant, and fully operational for guests at all times. Leading a team of multi-skilled engineers, the role is responsible for delivering timely reactive maintenance, overseeing routine works, and maintaining strict adherence to statutory and internal compliance standards. This leadership position safeguards the resort's world-class guest experience by minimising downtime and ensuring all facilities and attractions remain in optimum working condition.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of maintenance engineers across the resort.
  • Plan and allocate workload to ensure reactive tasks and scheduled works are completed promptly and effectively.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the department.
Compliance & Safety
  • Maintain full compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and internal policies.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping for audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct routine safety checks and risk assessments, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Operational Maintenance
  • Oversee timely completion of reactive repairs to minimise attraction and facility downtime.
  • Support delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes.
  • Respond quickly to operational issues, working cross-functionally with other resort teams.
  • Ensure engineering resources, tools, and materials are available and maintained.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and reduce failure rates.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Facilities on long-term asset management and improvement plans.
  • Analyse maintenance data and performance metrics to guide decision making.
Skills & Experience (Essential)
  • Proven experience in maintenance leadership within a similar operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building services and engineering systems.
  • Excellent understanding of compliance requirements and safety protocols.
  • OSH Managing Safely (essential).
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem solving skills.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience within a resort, entertainment venue, theme park, or high footfall environment.
  • Engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, or multi skilled).
  • Experience implementing PPM systems and process improvements.
