We are currently looking for a Maintenance Assistant M&E who will efficiently and effectively carry out planned, breakdown and emergency maintenance of a wide range of engineering or building related services, fabric and finishes either in support of a craftsperson or when working on an individual basis.

As the Maintenance Assistant M&E, you will:
  • Complete tasks either as part of the PPM system or work issues as part of the planned work programme to an appropriate standard. This will include for example the following: work in plant rooms, on engineering services, medical devices (beds, trolleys etc), portable equipment, catering equipment and fixed plant.
  • To undertake correctly and to a high standard the work associated with PPM (planned maintenance programme) or for planned work either when assisting a craftsperson or when working alone. Documentation is to be correctly completed as part of the record systems management requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring all work carried out is to a given standard and where this has been made available to the associated code of practice and to undertake training as required in support of this position.
  • Follow Trust policies relating to Estates activities. This will include permits for work on mechanical systems, work in and access to restricted areas, work associated with emergency generators, work on patient related systems.
  • Planning own work when given a range of work to do that necessitates some forward planning, equipment/parts ordering and access arrangements making.
  • Responsible for ensuring when access is made and arrangements to turn off services directly or indirectly that it is safe to do so. Similarly when reinstating the service
We are looking for:
  • Candidates must be fit and able bodied in order to undertake the tasks identified above.
  • Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Candidates must possess basic computer literacy skills.
  • Candidates must possess knowledge of building services and general building maintenance.
  • Candidates must have completed recognised training at Assistant Craft Level.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working within building and building services maintenance.
  • Evidence of working within acute health care premises would be advantageous (but not essential).
