Maintenance Assistant

As a Maintenance Assistant at Avocet Court Care Home, you will be responsible for ensuring all checks are complete and a safe environment for residents, team members and visitors whilst maintaining a high quality of service within the home.

Situated in a residential nook in Ipswich, our 115 bedroom Avocet Court Care Home is surrounded by beautiful gardens. We provide exceptional standards of care, with an award winning activities team and a newly refurbished café that is the heart of our home. We also have fantastic sustainability credentials, including solar panels and green initiatives to minimise our environmental impact.

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Maintenance Operative to manage and ensure the safe and pleasant environment for all residents and employees, working closely with wider teams to provide strong leadership and inspiration ensuring the highest service standards are achieved.

Salary

£12.71 per hour.

Shift Pattern

37.5 hours per week, worked on a rota basis from Monday to Sunday.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure that the decoration of the home is to the highest standard and snagging items dealt with in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all minor repairs and plumbing are fixed within a timely manner.
• Responsibly for the maintenance of the refuse area and the removal of clinical waste and rubbish from the home.
• Ensure that all electrical equipment and boiler house is maintained and repaired if required.
• Overall responsibility for carrying out our weekly, monthly and annual tests of the equipment and systems within the home.

Training, Skills & Experience Required

• Experience in a similar maintenance role is essential.
• Competent in Microsoft Office packages.
• Excellent written, non verbal and verbal communication skills.
