Job Description

Aberdeenshire H&SCP - Kincardine & Mearns area. Base location to be agreed at interview.

Employment locations: Inverbervie, Laurencekirk, Portlethen, Stonehaven GP Practices and Kincardine Community Hospital.

Hours: 1.0 wte - 36 hours per week. Full time or part time (minimum 0.6 wte / 21.6 h) will be considered.

Interview will be held Friday 15th May 2026 or by arrangement if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, oversee and develop the pharmacy service to GP practices and community hospitals, including medication/polypharmacy reviews, clinics using independent prescribing, medication reconciliation, actioning hospital discharge letters, acute and repeat prescription requests.
  • Provide prescribing advice to any member of the health care team, review prescribing data, undertake audit and answer ad hoc queries.
  • Attend multi disciplinary team meetings and support social care colleagues with medication related issues in care at home services.
  • Supervise and train other members of the HSCP pharmacy team, including undergraduate student placements.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Pharmacy and registered on the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) register.
  • Independent Prescribing qualification.
  • Relevant postgraduate pharmacy qualification (minimum diploma level) or equivalent knowledge through significant post qualification experience.
  • Extensive clinical knowledge, good IT skills and excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a car.

Additional Information for Candidates

As from 1/4/26 the Agenda for Change full time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will reduce pro rata, but the hourly rate will increase so pay will not be affected.
