Your Role:

To lead a Logistics team to ensure that the Logistic department meet their KPI's whilst ensuring that departmental standard operating procedures and company HS&E policies are adhered to.

To liaise with external suppliers to ensure service KPI's are met and managed effectively if there is a drop in service expectations.

To liaise with the Supply Chain department to manage stock levels, implementation of new products as and when needed

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards
  • Ensure full adherence to 5S practices at all times
  • Ensure all records are up to date and completed appropriately
  • Ensure that the escalation procedure for service related concerns is followed
  • Ensure achievement of productivity throughput against stated capacity targets
  • Ensure the team are aware of day to day targets and responsibilities
  • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure
  • Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools and ensure that operators comply with PPE requirements
  • Undertake continuous training and development
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Monitor the department's objectives and take action where needed
  • Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures
  • Build strong working relationships with 3rd party service providers for the deployment of excellent service.
  • Plan & execute the implementation of new stock ranges as well as the removal of obsolete stock in line with the Supply Chain team.
  • Plan and carry out stock cycle counts in line with the annual schedule.
  • Effectively manage the delivery team for the Birmingham, Milton Keynes & Leicester delivery routes.
  • People Management
  • Action daily management queries and provide support for the team to achieve operational success
  • Monitor time, attendance and punctuality to ensure compliance with Company Procedures, and liaise with the HR department as appropriate
  • Provide support and expertise to the team and respond to operator queries
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them
  • Promote the department KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables
  • Develop and lead a highly motivated team that consistently delivers a highly efficient order processing, warehouse and distribution service and provides first in class support to the operations teams
  • Identify, arrange and evaluate training for new and existing staff including reviewing and maintaining department training plans and records. Work with other internal departments to develop a training roadmap for the team to ensure the team are able to meet their targets
  • Relationship Management
  • Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities. Provide support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team
  • Manage resources and allocation of those resources to meet department objectives
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure a good level of communication is maintained
  • Feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements and delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements
PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE
  • Solid experience with order processing software and Microsoft Office with the ability to learn and adapt to any software changes.
  • Solid experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise & deliver whilst making decisions under pressure to achieve business KPI's
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, with the confidence to interact with a variety of audiences internally & externally.
  • Solid understanding of H&S to ensure the safety of the operations team and visitors to the area
  • Solid experience/understanding of managing change to support a continuous improvement ethos
