Locum LAS (ST4-6 level) in Mental Health Learning Disability, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Closing date: 30 September 2025.
Role and SettingThe Locum doctor will work in the community team for adults with intellectual disability and mental illness and/or significant challenging behaviour within the London borough of Southwark. They will be part of a multidisciplinary team made up of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists and Behaviour Support workers. They will assess patients for follow-up or initial assessments at various sites including Maudsley Hospital, day centres and the patient's home/care home. They are also expected to liaise with inpatient mental health units and with acute medical departments when patients accessing the team are admitted to inpatient units. The doctor will participate in MDT meetings including professionals meetings, weekly clinical team meetings, risk management meetings and other meetings as may be clinically relevant. A caseload is assigned to the doctor under close supervision from the consultant psychiatrist.
Main duties / ResponsibilitiesYour main liaisons would be with other clinicians in the community MHLD, ward based MDT, other Mental Health personnel both within and outside the directorate, other health, education, social services and voluntary agency personnel, referrers to the service, relevant research staff.

Person Specification Qualifications- Full GMC registration as doctor
- Experience in mental health services, including assessment, risk assessment and management of mental illness
- Experience in working in an MDT
- Experience working in adult learning disability services, or of working with people with neurodevelopmental conditions
- Knowledge of psychiatric medication, including clozapine
- Knowledge of the needs of people with neurodevelopmental conditions
