We are looking to recruit a Locum Consultant to our Community Paediatric team in Newham for 2025
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team within a multidisciplinary Community Child Health service in East London:
Consultant Community Paediatrician (up to 10PA)- the post will have a neuro-disability focus with weekly clinics in both neurodevelopment and also motor disorders. and will be lead for the Developmental assessment clinic pathway.
Main duties of the jobThe postholders will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service within Specialist Children & Young People's Services and will include responsibilities in the following areas:
(i) Clinical activities: a. Consultant clinics and related administrative work b. Clinical triage of referrals c. Clinical supervision as "Consultant of the Day" including Child protection d. MDT clinical discussions or meetings e. Any clinical patient-related meetings
(ii) Teaching: a. To contribute to departmental teaching b. To contribute to teaching of medical students particularly in relation to community child health services
(iii) Management and leadership: a. Clinical Supervision b. Clinical governance c. Management supervision d. Pathway leadership
(iv) Audit, Quality Improvement and Service Development

Person Specification Qualifications- oMBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- oCurrent full UK GMC registration and Licence to Practise
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- oPostgraduate degree in related child health or medical speciality, e.g. MSc, MD, PhD
- oDCH, MBA or other diploma or higher degree in a relevant field
- -Entry on GMC specialist register
- At least 2 years Higher Specialist Training or equivalent clinical experience in Community Paediatrics
- At least 2 years General Professional Training in Paediatrics
- In process of applying for specialist registration via portfolio pathway
- oSPIN or Diploma in Paediatric Neurodisability
- oExtensive experience of working in a multidisciplinary Child Development Team
- oCompetent use of Griffiths III or other similar developmental assessment tool
- oExperience in managing children with complex neurological and developmental problems
- oCompetent in management of common general paediatric problems - acute and chronic
- oUp to date with Level 3 competences in Safeguarding Children
- oCompetent in supervision of Child Protection Medical Assessments
- oExperience working in partnership with Education, Social Care and other stakeholders
- oSpecialist experience in Paediatric Neurology or other areas of related Community Child Health practice
- oExperience in other areas relevant to child health, eg. child mental health, obstetrics, public health, general practice
- Experince in tone mangement in cerebral Palsy
- ohas acted as clinical supervisor for trainees and/or specialty drs
- oExperience in clinical leadership of a multidisciplinary team
- oexperince as Educational supervisor
- oCompleted a recognised medical management course
- oHas the ability and experience to undertake medical appraisals
- Has experience in: -NHS complaint handling -Critical incident reporting -Staff appraisal -Risk management
- experince of working in Published research project
- oHas a record of completed audit projects, service development work
- o Has record of involvemnet in Quality Improvement projects
- oHas experience in co-production and collaboration with service users
- oHas undertaken Quality Improvement training
- oGood written communication on application form
- evidenc of work to champion diversity, equity and inclusion at work
- oapplication shows , breadth of thinking and initiative
- oEnthusiastic and motivated
- oCompetent in relevant IT skills required for working in the NHS
