Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is 40 hours per week.

Applications are invited for a 2x one year and 1 x 6 month ST4 LAT in General Adult Psychiatry based in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

Documented competencies achieved through LAT posts can count towards CCT (if subsequently appointed to a General Adult Specialty Training Programme)

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a license to practice.

General Adult Psychiatry ST4 2025 Medical Hub

Please note that a minimum of 36 Months Core Level Psychiatry Training in the United Kingdom is required for all posts in this recruitment round. You will need to have passed all postgraduate exams in psychiatry (paper A, paper B and the CASC) to be eligible to apply for a LAT post.

You will be treated like a Higher trainee in the West of Scotland General Adult Psychiatry programme. Your post will be a typical ST4 General adult placement with a mix of community and inpatient work. You will work alongside a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry who will provide weekly supervision, do your WBPA's and complete your ARCP Forms. You will see a variety of clinical work that should allow you to meet ST4 capabilities in general adult psychiatry including MHA work. You will be expected to develop as a senior medic in the wider MDT. You will be expected to engage in Quality improvement activity, research and special interest activities, and be included in the West of Scotland regional teaching programme. You will undertake on call in either the North or South GGC On call rota as part of the second on call rota. You will undertake court Liaison on call as part of the GGC court Liaison rota.
