Job Title: Local Taxation Officer Ref: JD 000A 3984 / 1 Pay rate: £19.16 per hour PAYE Working Arrangement: Hybrid - remote with some attendance at Oxford Town Hall

Role

Our client is seeking a Local Taxation Officer to join a busy Financial Services team. This hybrid role involves administering Council Tax and Business Rates accounts, responding to enquiries, and ensuring accurate billing and collection in line with legislation. You'll play a key role in supporting residents and businesses, identifying applicable discounts and reliefs, and maintaining up-to-date records to meet income targets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update Council Tax and Business Rates records
• Handle customer queries via phone, email, and in person
• Apply discounts, exemptions, and reliefs correctly
• Cross-check data across systems to ensure accuracy
• Support recovery processes and assist with reporting

Qualifications

• Experience in finance, tax, or debt recovery
• Knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates processes
• Proficiency in MS 365 and database systems
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to interpret regulations and work independently

• Role length: 3 months
• Job type: Temporary
• Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday
