Oversees daily operations, crop planning, and management of farmpersonnel. Responsible for budgeting, equipment maintenance, andensuring overall farm efficiency.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Livestock Manager tooversee the care, well-being, and productivity of our farmanimals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background inanimal husbandry, a passion for promoting animal welfare, andthe ability to manage and lead a team of livestock caretakers.The Livestock Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring thehealth, productivity, and humane treatment of all farm animals.

Job responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily care of farm animals, including feeding,watering, and monitoring overall health.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive animal health program,including vaccination schedules and disease preventionmeasures.
  • Manage and coordinate breeding programs to optimize herd/flockgenetics and reproductive performance.
  • Oversee mating schedules, artificial insemination, andpregnancy monitoring.
  • Plan and implement herd/flock management practices, includingrotational grazing and pasture management.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate stocking densities foroptimal animal welfare.
  • Develop and implement balanced and nutritionally appropriatefeeding programs.
  • Monitor feed quality, availability, and ensure proper storage.
  • Ensure clean and safe living conditions for animals byoverseeing the maintenance of barns, shelters, and otherlivestock facilities.
  • Coordinate repairs and improvements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual animalhealth, breeding history, and production performance.
  • Prepare reports on herd/flock performance and recommendationsfor improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, orrelated field.
  • Proven experience in livestock management, preferably on afarm of similar scale.
  • Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and breedingprinciples.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainable and humane livestock managementpractices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
