Hours Required: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility. Occasional weekend work by agreement with time off in lieu

Driver: Yes. Driver required. Car provided for use on duty

Summary

A private family based on the Crown Estate in Oxshott is seeking an experienced and practical live-in Gardener and Houseman to join their household.

This is a long-term position based within a newly built private residence occupied by a gentleman who lives independently, alongside assisting at a nearby family property located approximately 10 minutes away.

The gentleman values a calm, well-run household and having someone reliable around day to day.

This is not a formal care role. However, the family is looking for someone who is practical, observant, discreet, and happy to quietly keep an eye on things and help the household run smoothly day to day.

The role includes responsibility for the gardens and outdoor areas, driving duties, dog care, and practical household support.

You will also work alongside another housekeeper as part of a small and well-run household team.

The household includes three much-loved Airedales, so confidence around large dogs and a genuine enjoyment of dogs is important.

This role would suit someone who enjoys varied responsibilities, is happy working both inside and outside the home, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful private property.

Key Responsibilities Household and Property Responsibilities

• Helping to maintain a calm, comfortable, and well-run home environment
• Assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of both properties
• Driving duties, household errands, and occasional transport support
• Liaising with contractors and overseeing deliveries where required
• Helping to ensure both properties remain well presented and well maintained
• Working collaboratively alongside the housekeeper and wider household team

Gardening and Outdoor Responsibilities

• Maintaining the gardens and grounds to a high standard throughout the year
• General garden care including lawns, hedges, planting, and outdoor upkeep
• Maintaining entrances, terraces, pathways, and outdoor presentation
• Dog walking and general care for three Airedales
• Assisting with practical household support and light property maintenance where required

Requirements

• Previous experience working within private households, estates, or similar environments
• Gardening experience and a practical hands-on approach
• Calm, practical, discreet, and dependable in approach
• Comfortable working within a home centred around an older principal
• Confident handling large dogs
• Able to work independently and as part of a small household team
• Flexible and adaptable attitude
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Legal right to work in the UK
