The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join our personal injury practice. You will manage a litigation caseload, represent clients in court and tribunal proceedings, and work directly with clients, experts, and referring professionals. This role is ideal for a lawyer who is passionate about advocacy, has strong interpersonal skills, and thrives when given autonomy and responsibility.
What You'll Do
-Manage a caseload of personal injury and disability claims, including motor vehicle accidents, long-term disability, slip and fall, and other tort-based claims.
-Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and written submissions.
-Appear before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and other relevant tribunals.
-Participate in mediations, discoveries, and settlement negotiations.
-Collaborate with in-house experts, including medical and vocational professionals.
-Supervise or mentor junior staff as needed.
-Contribute to firm initiatives, including legal education, business development, and system improvements.
What We're Looking For
-3 or more years of post-call litigation experience (personal injury or insurance defence strongly preferred).
-Strong courtroom presence and a track record of successful advocacy.
-Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
-Highly organized with strong project and file management skills.
-Client-focused mindset with the ability to build trust and rapport.
-Ambition to grow within a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial legal team.
-Member in good standing with a Canadian law society (Nova Scotia preferred).
