Purpose
The ALS - Litigation Case Manager will be located within the London office, integrated in ALS and embedded within the Linklaters' Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations ("LAI") team. The LAI division has a bold and ambitious plan to grow its share of the business. We plan to do this through building our team of experts (globally) and collaborating with other practices and across sectors/geographies to pursue client relationships and areas of work that generate profitable revenue for the firm. Our ability to innovate to deliver exceptional experience for our clients and our people is key to our ability to grow and improve our margin by reducing cost of delivery. This includes ensuring we are leading edge and consistent in the ways/skills with which we deploy innovative tools, processes, and alternative resources, to our matters day-to-day.
The purpose of the role is to be an ALS fee earning Litigation Case Manager, supporting on multiple High Court Litigation matters, in particular managing all logistical and procedural aspects of High Court hearings.
The individual will need to work as an integrated part of multiple matter delivery teams, liaising closely with partners, other lawyers and colleagues, third parties and our clients.
What we are looking for
- Strong experience of working on High Court litigation and managing hearings
- Good working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
- Ability to build credibility quickly amongst team members and key stakeholders, and establish themselves as a trusted advisor
- Excellent at building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships to support both team and firm objectives
- Excellent communicator with ability to engage effectively with stakeholders of all seniorities to facilitate business outcomes
- Able to prioritise quickly, often in busy periods, in a calm manner
- Strong commercial awareness
- Highly motivated and team-orientated and prepared to assist clients and colleagues (out of normal office hours) to meet deadlines
- Performs well under pressure whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
Expectations of the role
- Technical matter expert in High Court hearings, taking full responsibility for hearing logistics on multiple matters
- Strong working knowledge of High Court processes and procedures, assisting with hearing preparation, filings, disclosure and overall matter management as required.
- Developing best practice guides and templates to improve efficiency and consistency of approach within the group
- Liaising with multiple third-party providers, including hearing and matter technological requirements and negotiating rates.
- Looking to build a long-term career within the Linklaters Litigation group.
- Cross-selling ALS services as appropriate, working closely with other embedded resources, ALS, innovation lawyers and the wider Legal Operations team.
Experience required
- Qualified Lawyer in England & Wales
- 3+ years' experience supporting High Court Litigation matters and managing hearings
- Knowledge and practical experience of liaising and negotiating with third party providers independently
