About WaythroughWaythrough was formed in 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Together, we've created one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.
Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services - and it's all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.
Brief description of projectThe liaison and diversion team works with people who come into contact with the police and courts. We identify unmet needs and help them to access the right support. We are looking for compassionate, approachable and reliable volunteers to join our team.
Details of the role & tasksThis role aims to improve the service we provide to those involved in the criminal justice system. We focus on enhancing processes, systems and support to enable specialist, person centred care.
Tasks may include:- Support service users involved in the criminal justice system
- Help service users plan and attend appointments, community activities and sessions
- Encourage engagement, interaction and positive behaviour in line with staff guidance
- Help maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Maintain confidentiality following Waythrough and NHS policy
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately to named supervisors
- Report any health and safety concerns
- Work alongside staff and other volunteers as part of a team, following instructions

- Non judgmental towards people with lived experience
- Good time keeping
- Able to work as part of a team, on your own initiative and to instruction
- An understanding of Waythrough - details available on our website or by calling a specific project
- A genuine interest in being part of the mission, vision and promise of Waythrough
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies and media guidelines, engage in supervision and complete relevant training
- Lived experience relevant to this role is welcomed and valued, particularly experiences that help you empathise with and support individuals involved in the criminal justice system

Thinford Investigative Hub and community based. We are looking for 4 volunteers from Durham, Darlington or Teeside.
TimingVolunteer hours will be agreed in advance and may vary during staff annual leave and holidays.
