Legal Counsel - Civica

Reporting directly to our Group Legal Director, you will receive exceptional mentoring and support whilst also being trusted to take ownership of your own work. This role offers the best of both worlds: learning from experienced legal leaders while developing the autonomy and commercial judgement expected of a successful in house lawyer.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial, technology, licensing and framework agreements.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including licensing, trademarks and brand protection.
• Support data protection, compliance and incident management across the business.
• Partner with stakeholders across the UK, Australia and India to provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice.
• Contribute to business critical projects including technology transformation, procurement, corporate governance and M&A activity.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 1 4 years' PQE.
• Strong experience in commercial contracts, ideally within a technology focused or commercial practice.
• Exposure to intellectual property and data protection matters, with experience advising on licensing arrangements highly desirable.
• Training gained within a leading City, national or international law firm; in house experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
• Confident communicator who can translate complex legal issues into clear, pragmatic advice for a range of stakeholders.
• Thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment and enjoys working collaboratively across the business.
