Lecturer in Law

Stirling Law School wishes to appoint a suitably qualified Teaching and Research (T&R) Lecturer in Law. The School is keen to ensure that we continue to offer all the LLB subjects required by the Faculty of Advocates and the Law Society of Scotland to a high standard. Therefore, teaching experience across Scots law LLB subjects would be advantageous. The current teaching needs are predominantly in Scots commercial law and European law.

Expertise in some or all of the following subjects is desirable:

• Scots Commercial Law
• European Law
• Information Technology Law
• Intellectual Property Law

The main responsibilities are to teach and supervise undergraduate students and to undertake administrative duties as appropriate to the grade of appointment.

Initially, the successful applicants will be responsible for:

• (a) Coordinating and delivering core and specialist modules in the LLB/BA (Hons) programmes
• (b) Contributing to dissertation supervision and assessment in the LLB/BA (Hons) Law programmes

• Engage in individual and collaborative research which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, develop a programme of high-quality research and disseminate results through regular publication
• Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded
• Supervise research students as required, providing direction, support and guidance
• Design and deliver a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate including online/digital programmes where required
• Participate in the School of Law's, and where appropriate the Faculty's, international engagement activities as required e.g. delivering teaching, contributing to joint programmes and recruitment of students
• Participate in, and develop, networks and collaborations both internally and externally to the School of Law/Faculty/University
• Participate in the administrative processes of the School of Law, and where appropriate the wider University, including committee membership, quality assurance procedures and recruitment and admission of students

• Engage in individual and collaborative research, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, establish a distinctive programme of high-quality research and disseminate results
• Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded
• Supervise research students and staff as required, providing direction, support and guidance
• Design, teach and assess a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate programmes including online/digital programmes where required
• Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports a research-led approach to student learning
• Participate in the School of Law's, and where appropriate the Faculty's, international engagement activities as required e.g. delivering teaching, contributing to joint programmes and recruitment of students
• Participate in, and develop, networks and collaborations both internally and externally to the School of Law/Faculty/University
• Participate in the administrative processes of the School of Law, and where appropriate the wider University, including committee membership, quality assurance procedures and recruitment and admission of students
• Any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post
