Job Description

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: TTE Study Programmes

Salary: £29,565- £43,562 per annum (subject to a progression criteria)

Reporting to: Curriculum Team Leader in Engineering

Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus bank holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Teaching hours: 864 hours per annum

Basis: Full time, Permanent

Pension: Teachers Pension Scheme

Salary Footnotes:

The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 - Pt 16. Thesalary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Lecturer in Instrumentation and Control to join our vibrant TTE Engineering department. You will deliver high-quality teaching, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to curriculum development in the field of instrumentation, control systems, and automation. With a focus on preparing the next generation of engineers, you will bring both academic excellence and industry experience to inspire students and drive forward our reputation for excellence in teaching and research.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Lecturer in Instrumentation and Control, you will:

  • Deliver and manage high-quality, inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment in Instrumentation and Control systems within the Engineering sector.
  • Provide both hands on and theoretical instruction in specialised areas, such as Instrumentation and Control systems.
  • Support students in their academic and personal development, enabling them to reach their full potential.
  • Design and deliver lesson plans that bridge classroom learning with real world applications.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the student learning experience and address the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Contribute to student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression by offering tailored guidance and support.
What We're Looking For:

We seek candidates who:

  • Are a qualified Teacher or are willing to work towards achieving this qualification.
  • Are a qualified Assessor or are willing to work towards achieving this qualification.
  • Hold a minimum Level 5 qualification in Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Have GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Possess relevant industrial experience in the field of Instrumentation - Essential.
  • Have current knowledge and/or experience of teaching in one or more fields of Instrumentation Engineering - Desirable.
