Job Description
Subject Lead for Business and Management

Onsite - this role will be based on site, primarily in the named location.

This role focuses on teaching and supervising a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive clients in the areas of Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership or Change Management. You will create an engaging and supportive learning environment, integrate employability into the curriculum, and provide a quality student experience aligned with the University's strategic priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and facilitate learning on a range of subjects/modules within the subject area for undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and post experience programmes.
  • Use research and scholarly activities to inform and enhance learning and teaching, and engage in knowledge transfer activities.
  • Design and deliver modules/programmes in compliance with University quality standards and regulations.
  • Set, mark and moderate student work and provide constructive feedback following quality assurance procedures.
  • Review and develop module/programme delivery, incorporating innovative study modes, learning environments and pedagogic practices.
  • Lead modules or programmes, including marketing, recruitment, delivery and ongoing development activities.
  • Act as a personal tutor, provide pastoral care, and support student recruitment and outreach where required.
  • Manage administrative duties such as admissions, timetabling, examinations, assessment of progress and student attendance.
  • Support cross College and University working, observe and implement University policies and procedures.
Research / Scholarship
  • Publish in appropriate quality journals and present at scholarly activities such as workshops, conferences and other events.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with relevant professional, research and industrial organisations.
  • Write bids for externally funded research projects.
Qualifications
  • Good honours degree in a relevant subject area.
  • CIPD accreditation or a willingness to obtain it.
  • Fellowship of Advanced HE (FHEA) or willingness to work towards it.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (or equivalent).
  • Professional qualification as a trainer/educator or relevant subject specific qualifications.
Experience
  • Experience or knowledge of higher education and ability to use a range of delivery techniques.
  • Demonstrable experience of teaching and supervising at undergraduate, postgraduate, or executive level.
  • Experience of module and/or programme leadership and curriculum development.
  • Experience of online and blended learning and the design of formative and summative assessments.
  • Experience of research, enterprise activity, and awarding external research funding.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Strong digital capability and proficiency with educational technology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including networking and relationship building.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Independent self management and effective teamwork.
  • Capacity to work with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, alignment to the UK Professional Standards Framework for HE, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Sound understanding of the employability agenda and internationalisation for learners and the curriculum.
  • Innovative, creative and committed to fostering a high performance culture.
Business Requirements
  • Travel between sites and occasionally overseas for research or teaching.
  • Some evening and occasional weekend teaching.
  • Attendance at Open Days, Graduation events etc.
  • Commitment to own professional development.
