Job Description
About the role

As a Lecturer in Finance (Teaching Focused), you will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of undergraduate and taught postgraduate provision, including face-to-face and distance learning. You will teach mainstream finance modules, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and work collaboratively with colleagues to review curricula and support the design and launch of new academic programmes, ensuring that teaching is informed by current scholarship within a research-led university environment. The role also involves contributing to scholarship, academic administration and enterprise activities that support the work and reputation of the School. You will engage in scholarly activity to maintain subject expertise, disseminate outputs through appropriate channels, and contribute to the external profile of the Department and School through professional engagement, conferences and collaboration with internal and external partners.

About you

You will have recognised expertise in an area of finance and recent experience of delivering finance modules at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of Fintech, Trading, Financial Markets, Green Finance, Sustainable Finance and Regulations. You will normally hold a completed PhD in finance or have significant relevant professional experience, and your expertise will complement or enhance existing strengths within the Department. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality teaching, curriculum development and the supervision and support of students. You will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of an academic team, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence in using digital technologies to support teaching and administration. Experience of distance learning, postgraduate supervision, mentoring students or holding Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy would be advantageous, as would practical experience from industry.
