We are seeking a Lecturer (teaching and research) in cryogenic tomography (cryo-ET) to join the York Structural Biology Laboratory . In this role, you will develop, lead and nurture an internationally-recognised personal research programme, with priority given to research aligned with cryo-ET. You will secure external funding, publish high-quality peer-reviewed outputs, and collaborate within the Department and wider University. Additionally, you will design, deliver, and review innovative teaching materials across taught programmes, supervise research students, and undertake administrative and managerial duties commensurate with the post.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed
  • Qualifications: A PhD in Structural Biology or a relevant subject area (or equivalent experience) alongside an appropriate academic teaching qualification, or a willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of structural biology, including cryo-ET, and innovative teaching techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Research Excellence: A track record of contributing to publicly-evidenced, high-quality research, with the ability to develop innovative research proposals and secure external funding.
  • Teaching & Supervision: Ability to plan, design, and deliver teaching and assessment materials across a range of modules, as well as the ability to supervise MSc/PhD students and research staff.
  • Skills & Attributes: Highly-developed communication, analytical, and IT skills, with a collaborative ethos and a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
