Salary: £29,565 - £43,562 per annum (subject to progression criteria )

Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

Contractual Hours: 37 hours per week

Teaching Hours: 864 hours per annum

Basis: Full-time, Permanent

Pension: Teachers' Pension Scheme

Salary progression beyond Point 11 is subject to achieving and maintaining QTLS/QTS. Progression beyond Point 14 requires achievement of Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).

Job Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lecturer in Brickwork to join our Construction team. This is an exciting opportunity for an industry professional who is passionate about developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. You will deliver high quality teaching, learning, and assessment across Brickwork programmes, using a combination of classroom and workshop based delivery. The role focuses on equipping learners with the practical skills, technical knowledge, behaviour, and attitudes needed for successful progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and industry relevant Brickwork lessons to meet the needs of learners aged 16-18 and adults
• Create a safe, inclusive, and professional workshop learning environment
• Deliver and assess programmes in line with awarding body and Middlesbrough College standards
• Use a variety of teaching strategies, including digital and practical methods, to maximise learner achievement
• Track progress using diagnostic and formative assessment and implement timely interventions
• Maintain accurate student records, registers, and assessment documentation
• Contribute to course development, quality assurance, and internal verification processes
• Actively prepare learners for employment and progression within the construction sector
• Take part in curriculum development, marketing, recruitment activities, and open events
• Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, health and safety, and College policies at all times

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Essential

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Brickwork
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C / Level 4 or above (or equivalent)
• Occupational competence and up to date industry knowledge within Brickwork
• Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills
• Ability to manage learner behaviour positively and effectively

Desirable

• Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
• Experience teaching Brickwork within Further Education
• Knowledge of careers and progression routes within the construction sector
