Learning/Instructional Designer - Digital Learning Programme
Start: ASAP
Rate: Up to £450/day (Inside IR35)
Length: 6 months (initial)
Location: Hybrid - primarily remote, with on-site attendance in Manchester once per week (Thursdays)

We are supporting a consultancy delivering into a major digital learning programme and are seeking an experienced Learning/Instructional Designer to join the team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing pedagogically sound digital learning experiences that align with educational goals, accessibility standards, and product requirements. You will work closely with Product, UX, Editorial, and Learning Science colleagues to ensure learning content is engaging, accurate, and user-centred.

Key responsibilities:
- Apply established learning theories (eg, Bloom's Taxonomy, Constructivism) to shape instructional design
- Collaborate with UX and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with accessibility, usability, and engagement standards
- Use learner feedback, analytics, and usability testing to refine learning content and interactions
- Balance engagement methods (interactivity, gamification) with academic rigour and factual correctness
- Work closely with Editorial teams to maintain consistency, clarity, and quality of content
- Strong background in learning design, instructional design, or digital education
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including UX, Product, and Editorial
- Ability to use data, feedback, and testing to iterate learning experiences
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Experience within digital learning or education technology highly desirable
