Job Description

Learning Support Mentor - Full Time

We are seeking a motivated and supportive Learning Support Mentor to work within a Further Education setting, in Huntingdon supporting students across vocational areas such as construction and motor vehicle.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help learners overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

The RoleYou will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities across a variety of environments, including workshops, classrooms, and practical training settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with additional learning needs
  • Support learners in practical environments, including workshops and vocational sessions
  • Assist with notetaking, reading, and understanding learning materials
  • Support the use of IT and assistive technologies
  • Help students develop organisation, study skills, and independence
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, and progression
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals where required

About You

  • Experience supporting young people or adults in education, care, or training
  • Understanding of (or willingness to learn) a range of SEND needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships
  • Good organisational and IT skills
  • Interest or experience in construction and/or motor vehicle environments
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
