Job Description

Are you a compassionate, reliable, and skilled support professional passionate about improving the lives of young adults with complex needs? We are seeking Care Workers / Support Workers / PMLD Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team at a specialist college in Harrow.

About the Role

You will be supporting learners aged 19-25 with a range of profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Your role will involve providing high-quality personal care, educational support, and promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, including dressing, feeding, hygiene, and mobility
  • Support learners within classroom, community, and therapy-based sessions
  • Implement behaviour support strategies (Team Teach or equivalent an advantage)
  • Follow individual education and care plans
  • Support with communication, engagement, and sensory learning
  • Assist with hoisting, repositioning, and safe movement (Manual Handling)
  • Respond appropriately during medical or care-related needs, including epilepsy support
Requirements
  • Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, autism, complex needs, or behaviours of concern
  • Training or experience in:
  • Manual Handling / Moving & Handling
  • Team Teach (or similar)
  • Personal Care
  • Epilepsy awareness/support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A caring, patient, and proactive approach
  • Willingness to undertake further training
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one)
