Margate

£68,000 - £72,000 (DOE + allowances)

Full-time, 40 hours per week

The Opportunity

We're supporting a well-established small animal hospital in Margate with the recruitment of a Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced vet to step into a leadership role, combining clinical work with the responsibility of guiding and developing a high-performing team.

You'll play a key role in shaping clinical standards, driving performance, and ensuring the delivery of a professional, compassionate service to patients and clients alike.

The Role

This is a hands on leadership position, offering a balance of clinical duties and management responsibilities. You'll lead from the front, setting the tone for clinical excellence while supporting and developing your team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical leadership and oversight of veterinary standards
  • Managing and developing the Veterinary Surgeon team
  • Leading on recruitment, coaching, and performance management
  • Delivering high quality medical and surgical care
  • Supporting clinical governance and continuous improvement
  • Building strong relationships with clients and the wider team

This role would particularly suit a vet with a surgical bias who enjoys a pragmatic, solutions focused approach to patient care.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to take the next step into leadership, or an existing leader seeking a new challenge.

You will:

  • Be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered or eligible)
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience
  • Demonstrate strong clinical and surgical capabilities
  • Have experience mentoring or leading colleagues
  • Be confident in decision making and clinical governance
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thrive in a collaborative, team focused environment

The Practice

You'll be based in a modern, well equipped hospital designed to support high clinical standards and teamwork. Facilities include:

  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • Digital radiography, ultrasound and endoscopy
  • Piped gases and advanced orthopaedic equipment
  • A collaborative team with a broad range of clinical interests
