The Role

We are looking for a Lead Supervisor to join one of our supervision teams in the Flexible Insurance Department. You will be involved in setting and delivering the supervisory strategy for a range of insurers and insurance intermediary firms supervised on a flexible basis.

As a Lead Supervisor you will play an important role in keeping abreast of this constantly evolving sector and the emerging risks for insurers, brokers and consumers. Our work is varied, including proactive firm engagements, multi-firm projects as well as using market intelligence to identify and mitigate regulatory concerns with individual firms.

While your proactive engagement and project work will be predominantly focused on firms operating in the London Wholesale Insurance Market, you can expect to have a varied workload which will also involve the supervision of firms across the wider insurance and funeral plan sectors.

You will be leading the supervision of firms in our sector and delivering on projects that cut across firms and address key market issues. You will also be overseeing the work of junior members of the team, providing them with relevant guidance and supporting their development.

What will you be doing?
  • Identifying and mitigating conduct and prudential risks in insurance firms and markets; escalating as and when appropriate
  • Developing strategies to progress cases and projects with changing priorities and taking the lead on project work across portfolios
  • Devising the content and leading meetings with firms' senior executives; overseeing firm actions and mitigation programmes
  • Reviewing information provided by firms and other external sources to draw out and present key information
  • Using your experience, knowledge and judgement to make risk-based decisions
  • Providing support to the leadership team in the department including your direct line manager
  • Staying aware of sector issues, risks and news, taking action to use these insights to reduce harm in cases
  • Delegating tasks to more junior members of the team, supporting them and managing the completion of their work
What will you get from the role?
  • Step into a role where no two days are the same-you'll tackle varied and rewarding challenges while engaging directly with senior leaders across a diverse range of firms
  • Be part of a team that has real impact. You will be supporting and working collaboratively on high-profile projects that shape how insurance firms operate, all within a supportive and inclusive environment that values your contributions
Which skills are required?

We are a Disability Confident Employer; therefore, disabled people or individuals with long-term conditions who best meet the minimum criteria for a role will go through to the next stage of the recruitment process. (To learn more about the Disability Confident Scheme Click Here )

Minimum
  • Prior experience of analysing information and making judgements to decide the best way to deal with risks in firms and markets
  • Experience of working with the business models, firms, and risks in the insurance market
  • Experience of ensuring case work and projects are progressed efficiently and at pace
Essential
  • Direct line management experience or experience of supporting and mentoring more junior members of a team, assigning work and managing its completion
  • Experience of managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Experience of summarising and analysing information - drawing out key points and presenting them clearly in writing
  • Experience of leading meetings with external stakeholders
  • Being willing to learn and develop, taking on new responsibilities and adopting a flexible pragmatic approach to your work
  • Practical experience of prudential and conduct regulation
