In this pivotal role, you'll take the lead in crafting the architectural blueprint and long term roadmap that brings our strategic vision to life. You'll design and implement innovative, robust solutions that align with our core architectural principles, ensuring every system we build supports a smarter, more connected Chambers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible to coordinating, contributing and managing the architectural blueprint and roadmap for Chambers, in line with the business, technology and product vision and strategy
- Accountable for designing solutions that meet people, process and technology needs and provide a route from the As-Is to the To-Be.
- Accountable for defining and maintaining architectural principles, ensuring these are adhered to
- Accountable for ensuring the as-is technology landscape is fully understood, documented, and any risks managed
- Accountable for producing quality, clear and consistent outputs that are required through all the phases of a delivery.
- Agree and set the technical direction for the technology landscape and solutions, for the short and long term, in collaboration with delivery and engineering teams
- Accountable for ensuring architectural solutions throughout the project or product life-cycle, are delivered effectively, and to agreed technical standards.
- Accountable for ensuring stakeholders, technology teams, third parties and vendors, are aligned to the architectural vision.
- Empower great engineering through collaborative design and building of solutions as one technical team.
- Identify and assess emerging trends, technologies and competitor/sector offerings, building into the product roadmap and backlog as required
- Identify, select and manage third party solution providers from a technical perspective
- Guide, influence and challenge the technology teams and stakeholders to understand the benefits, pros and cons of solution options.
- Design and architecture solutions working closely with engineers from the inception through to delivery and release.
- Vast technical experience and exposure to numerous tech stacks including Microsoft
- Significant experience as a solution/enterprise architect in a consumer facing industry, with in depth experience in at least 4 of the following areas:
- Solution Architecture (must)
- Data Architecture
- Application Architecture (must)
- Technical Architecture
- Infrastructure Architecture
- Security Architecture
- Enterprise Architecture (must)
- Able to design a range of architectural solutions, with experience/knowledge in a number of the following:
- Robust scalable web, mobile and tablet solutions for consumers.
- Integration between back office solutions such as CRM, CMS and analytics.
- Subscription and payment solutions
- Platforms that can be reused by multiple products.
- Data applications, workflows and landscapes, inc ML and AI technologies
- Service-oriented and message-oriented integration.
- Editorial content production applications and workflows
- Worked through the entire technology delivery lifecycle from inception to release and maintenance.
- Developed Architecture in agile/iterative environments with experience of methodologies such as SCRUM, RUP, Lean and DSDM.
- Skilled and structured in software and systems architecture with knowledge of UML, logical, physical, data modelling and pattern-based architecture design techniques.
- Provides architectural direction, inspiring and engaging teams to deliver excellence.
- Worked both in transformational programmes and in agile product environments, with awareness of methodologies such as PRINCE 2 and SCRUM
- Strong at problem solving and able to design solutions, options and recommendations that meet a range of sometimes conflicting requirements.
- Able to use visual techniques, both in diagrams and informally on the whiteboard, that make it easier to understand an architecture or reason with difficult problems.
- Able to design solution that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Able to drive key architectural outcomes, such as reusability, performance, separation of concerns, quality and integrity
- Knowledgeable in software engineering techniques and able to work with engineers to shape an architecture design
- Demonstrable passion for emerging technologies and trends, with experience of exploiting these where applicable
- Passionate about digital and data products, platforms and technologies
- Constructively challenges convention and seeks new ways of achieving better results
- Demonstrates sound and pragmatic judgement, balancing pace, risk and business value to reach decisions and deliver solutions
- Customer and data centric in your approach
- Proactive self starter who continuously seeks ways to improve
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate complex subjects, 'sell' ideas, and influence business and technology stakeholders at all levels
- Attention to detail, focused on the finer details that make the difference
- Provides thought leadership in the technology domains
