Job Description

Role Title: Lead Service Designer
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months
Rate: £550 - £600 Outside IR35

Key Responsibilities

Practice Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead cross-cutting collaboration across teams to improve ways of working and maximise value delivery.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on service design approaches, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and user needs.

  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, understanding and optimising value streams.

Service Design Excellence

  • Define and implement a framework for effective service design, including methods, standards, and measurable outcomes.

  • Design services that are usable, accessible, and efficient, balancing organisational capabilities with user needs.

  • Champion consistency in service quality and standards across all touchpoints.

Value & Metrics

  • Establish clear metrics to demonstrate the impact and maturity of the service design practice.

  • Use evidence and insights to continuously improve services, optimising time to value and service efficiency.

Capability Development

  • Upskill colleagues in service design principles, tools, and methods.

  • Act as a mentor and coach to build service design capability and knowledge across the organisation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote innovation and new ways of working to enhance service delivery.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to embed best practices in service management and delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Significant experience in service design, user experience, or service management roles.

  • Proven track record of leading service design initiatives across complex organisations.

  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles, with the ability to translate them into practical services.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to define, track, and report on service metrics to measure impact.

  • Strong communication skills, able to convey complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
