About this role:

We are looking for an exceptional Lead Designer, to lead an area of our Customer design team, looking after the apps and websites our customers use to order their food globally.

You'll work with multiple cross functional teams that prioritise using research and data to help understand the problem space, before moving through the design process to deliver engaging and user-friendly solutions. We want to discover what our users will love as soon as we can, we like to explore user problems in-depth and speak with users regularly to help us understand their needs.

You'll contribute to leading a vibrant, creative design culture and ensure that we have a clear user-centred vision for your areas of accountability, which aligns with our product strategy. You will work closely with your design peers around the globe, lead by example, and manage, coach and grow 2-3 Product Designers.

You'll be part of a passionate UX team of 100+ UX designers, UI designers, product designers, service designers, researchers and writers across 7 countries.

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
  • Vision : Define a clear user-centred vision, which aligns with our broader business goals and product strategy and outlines the future possibilities of our design direction.
  • Discovery : Ensuring a user centred pipeline of work is created and maintained, to enable the completion of the design strategy. Tracking how this is performing and key risks and opportunities.
  • Strategy ; Ensure the design strategy is clearly articulated, understood and communicated.
  • Structure ; Recommend and work to ensure our people are deployed and projects/programmes designed in a way to most effectively deliver the largest user value - in the shortest time frame.
  • People ; Ensure we have the right mix of skills in our teams via recruitment, performance management including coaching and development to ensure we are able to deliver our strategy.
  • Process ; Ensure our design processes are customer centred, agile and lean and move effectively towards our goals to deliver maximum customer value in the quickest time frames.
  • Culture ; As one of the most senior people on the team, you'll lead our team by example and embody the company's values.

What will you bring to the table?
  • Knowledge of multiple design methodologies with a deep working knowledge of how they can be optimised and implemented
  • Understanding of the difference between vision, strategy and objectives - experience delivering a design vision or strategy which has shaped the roadmap of multiple teams
  • Exceptional levels of craft quality - pushing creative excellence in the solutions you deliver
  • Ability to clearly prioritise and are comfortable managing ambiguity and risk
  • Understanding and monitoring of the user impact of design changes implemented
  • Ability to solve complex problems - and someone who takes a new perspective on existing solutions
  • Commercial awareness, and understands the business value of solving our users problems
  • Ability to work independently - identifying innovative solutions, receiving minimal guidance
