Lead PET CT Technologist - Nuclear Medicine, Department of Clinical Physics and Bioengineering

Lead PET CT Technologist

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Lead PET CT Technologist and play a pivotal role in delivering a safe, high quality imaging service to patients across the West of Scotland. Based within a progressive and research active Nuclear Medicine service, you will lead a skilled multidisciplinary team while ensuring the smooth day to day running of PET CT services.

This role offers the opportunity to influence service development, contribute to clinical trials, and shape patient pathways through innovation and leadership. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Post holders will provide out of hours cover for emergency or delayed patients when necessary.

Duration: Permanent
Base Location: Gartnavel Hospital
Hours: Full Time (36 Hours)
Working Pattern: 9 hours per day, over 4 days (Mon Sun 08 30)

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day to day delivery of PET CT services, ensuring safe, efficient and patient centred care
• Provide line management, supervision and development support to technologists, assistants and clerical staff
• Plan, prioritise and coordinate workload, including urgent and complex patient pathways
• Ensure compliance with IRMER and radiation safety regulations alongside departmental policies and procedures
• Oversee equipment performance, quality assurance and safe use of highly specialised imaging systems
• Contribute to service improvement, clinical trials and the development of new protocols and procedures

Qualifications and experience

• Degree level qualification in a relevant scientific or radiographic discipline or equivalent experience
• Significant experience working within Nuclear Medicine or PET CT services, including advanced imaging procedures
• In depth knowledge of radiation protection legislation, including IRMER and associated regulatory frameworks
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to manage and develop teams effectively
• Experience in quality assurance, clinical governance and safe operation of complex imaging equipment
• Demonstrated involvement in service development, research or clinical trials activity
