Overview

The Wall Street Journal is seeking an experienced, high-energy news editor to play a central role in our London newsroom. You will lead a team on the London hub, driving coverage when news breaks and ensuring our journalism is fast, accurate, and distinctive across platforms.

This role requires both newsroom leadership and hands-on editing: you will commission, edit and publish-sometimes write-the first takes of major breaking stories. You'll also play a key role in live coverage, including making decisions to launch world live blogs.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team in the London hub, driving coverage when news breaks and ensuring fast, accurate, and distinctive journalism across platforms.
• Provide newsroom leadership and hands-on editing: commission, edit and publish the first takes of major breaking stories; sometimes write.
• Play a key role in live coverage, including making decisions to launch world live blogs.
• Serve as the lead project manager for creating rich, reader-focused digital experiences - from conception to publication.
• Collaborate across bureaus, time zones, and teams-including visuals, video, audio, design, publishing, and audience.
• Shape the Journal's daily line-up, craft sharp headlines and alerts, and champion creative storytelling across formats.
