Role: Lead Engineer

Salary: Up to £110,000

Location: London - hybrid or remote

We're partnered with a rapidly scaling data and analytics company in the FinTech sector. They're on a mission to transform how professionals access and analyse critical business information, building a platform that centralises intelligence and enables their clients - including many of the world's leading institutions - to make faster, smarter, and more informed decisions.

They are actively seeking a Lead Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will hold end-to-end accountability for the technical delivery of a dedicated engineering squad, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and robust solutions.

As the Lead Engineer, you will line manage 4-6 software engineers, fostering their growth, optimising team performance, and promoting best practices. Beyond team leadership, you'll be deeply involved in the hands-on systems design and architectural decisions for your squad's products, translating business needs into technical solutions and ensuring alignment with the broader architectural vision.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end accountability for technical delivery of a dedicated engineering squad, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and robust solutions.
• Line management of 4-6 software engineers, fostering growth, optimising team performance, and promoting best practices.
• Hands-on involvement in systems design and architectural decisions for the squad's products, translating business needs into technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Backend engineering background. Ideally Python (or Golang / Kotlin).
• Mentorship or management experience is ideal, but not required as this is primarily a technical role.
