Lead Engineer

The Site Engineer will have proven experience in dealing with electro-mechanical faults, repairs, and preventative maintenance operations within an automated logistics environment. Reporting to the KNAPP UK Regional Operations Manager, the Site Engineer will deliver world-class maintenance processes within a highly automated logistics system, ensuring high standards of equipment reliability and system technical availability. The Engineer will prioritize safety in all tasks and demonstrate a track record of resolving problems successfully. Flexibility is essential within this small, dynamic, and efficient engineering team.
and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with current H&S standards.
- Provide 1st level support, including error correction within logistics systems.
- Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic fault finding and repairs.
- Carry out planned maintenance of automated logistic systems.
- Monitor the technical operation of logistics systems.
- Conduct inspections and condition monitoring of equipment.
- Recover equipment from breakdowns efficiently and effectively.
- Manage escalation of equipment or system incidents.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and customer standards.
- Interact with customer management, keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progress and addressing concerns professionally.
- Interpret electrical circuit diagrams and work with 415V motor controls.
- Manage spare parts, including usage, inventory, repairs, receipts, replenishments, and ordering.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Understand control systems such as WCS, WMS, SCADA.
- Understand industrial field bus systems (e.g., ASi, Profibus).
- Show willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements.
- Respect cultural diversity.
- Understand budgeting processes.
- Meet KPIs.
- Completed an apprenticeship in an electromechanical discipline to at least NVQ Level 3.
- Experience with automated systems.
- HNC/HND NVQ Level 5 is desirable.
- Understanding of WMS and WCS systems is beneficial.
- Pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge is advantageous.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
