Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Lead Engineer to direct a multidisciplinary engineering team to:
- Identify the feasibility of approaches
- Develop outline requirement specifications
- Determine TRL levels and develop associated plans for viable solutions
- Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraisal and selection phase of projects, ensuring delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters
- Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and producing design deliverables
- Manage the DSA teams in producing deliverables
- Develop safety cases, participate in HAZOPs, support safety assessments, review ES, and produce substantiation documentation
- Identify additional resource needs to ensure all deliverables are produced and checked according to the project schedule
- Coordinate with other Project Discipline leads
- Engage with site clients and stakeholders
Requirements include:
- Background in engineering with a proven record of successful project delivery and leadership of technical teams
- Extensive experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical expertise
- Recent experience within regulated and quality-assured systems (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is essential
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards relevant to the nuclear industry (or equivalent experience in other sectors):
- Health & Safety at Work Act
- The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
- Experience in identifying TRLs and developing technology development plans
- Higher Education in Engineering or equivalent
- Membership in a relevant engineering or scientific institution
- Ability to obtain SC security clearance
- Residency in the UK or meeting residency criteria for security clearance
