Job Description
Lead Crisis Worker (Devon and Cornwall SARC)

The Lead Crisis Worker will predominantly be office based between Monday and Friday (09 00) and will undertake administrative tasks whilst responding to telephone calls from those who have been sexually assaulted/abused and act according to policies and procedures.

They will provide initial support to service users in crisis, utilising trauma stabilisation techniques and behaving in a non judgmental, reassuring manner. Lead Crisis Workers work alongside Forensic Examiners supporting patients during forensic medical assessment and acting as a patient advocate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the first point of contact for individuals affected by sexual abuse or assault, offering calm, non judgmental support.
  • Attend forensic examinations and provide in person crisis support during working hours, alongside the forensic team.
  • Support the out of hours on call service, taking calls from individuals who may not feel ready to involve the police.
  • Coordinate and book forensic medical exams, liaising with police and internal teams to ensure a smooth and sensitive service.
  • Supervise and support the dedicated team of out of hours Crisis Workers to ensure seamless 24/7 care.
  • Handle essential administrative tasks related to patient records and follow up referrals.
  • Provide cover across all SARC sites, depending on service requirements.
Working Pattern

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09 00 (including some weekend cover and varied hours).

Person Specification - General Requirements
  • Previous experience in crisis support or a related health care role.
  • Good understanding of trauma informed care and relevant procedures.
  • Strong communication, organisational and decision making skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and regular access to a vehicle.
